Who We Are

Founded in 2021 by Florence Uwera, Flo & Friends is a humanitarian organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable children and teen mothers in Western Uganda. We work within the Rwamwanja Refugee Settlements and surrounding communities, aiming to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.

Our Mission

We believe every child and teen mother deserves the opportunity to thrive. We strive to provide equitable access to education, health, and socio-economic opportunities, empowering them to reach their full potential.

Why We Do What We Do

We are driven by the vision of a future where vulnerable children and teen mothers have access to the resources they need to reach their full potential. We are guided by the core values of empathy, compassion, equity, integrity, innovation, and empowerment.

Our Impactful Programs

We implement strategic programs focusing on education, health, nutrition, and socio-economic empowerment. These programs address the diverse needs of our beneficiaries, creating lasting positive change.

• Education Support: We provide school supplies, fees, uniforms, and literacy projects to increase enrollment, reduce dropout rates, and improve academic performance.
• Education Infrastructure: We work to enhance learning environments by renovating classrooms, developing sports grounds, and improving libraries.
• Health Program: We offer medical support, health screenings, and education to improve healthcare access and quality of life.
• Nutrition Program: We address malnutrition through school feeding projects, nutrition education, and supplementary feeding.
• WASH Program: We prioritize hygiene and sanitation by installing water points, facilitating sanitation facilities, and empowering teen mothers with pad-making skills.
• Environment Program: We promote a healthier environment through tree planting campaigns, recycling initiatives, and solar energy projects.
• Vocational Training Program: We offer skills training in trades, agriculture, and entrepreneurship to foster economic empowerment and sustainable community development.

A Special Focus on Teen Mothers

We understand the unique challenges faced by teen mothers, including exploitation, gender-based violence, and poverty. We provide counseling, vocational training, mother-friendly learning environments, and advocate for community engagement to prevent early pregnancy and support victims of abuse.
