Potable Water Access Project for First Child School
Potable water supply project
Access to safe drinking water is critical for health and education. In Kamwenge District, Uganda, including the Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement, over 65% of the population lacks clean water. Students at First Child School walk long distances during class to fetch water, often from polluted sources, risking waterborne diseases and missed learning opportunities.
Flo & Friends Charity Organization proposes installing rainwater harvesting tanks and boreholes at First Child School. This initiative will provide clean, safe drinking water for 500 students and over 5,000 community members. Clean water will be stored in filtered tanks, with additional treatments as needed, ensuring safety and improving health.
The project’s outcomes include more classroom time for students, better academic performance, reduced illnesses, and lower medical expenses. Families will benefit from improved sanitation and enhanced agricultural productivity, allowing parents to focus on their children’s education.
Beyond infrastructure, the project will train teachers, parents, and community members in managing water systems and sustainable water use. This knowledge will empower them to replicate solutions at home, fostering long-term resilience and self-reliance.
Your support can help transform lives by providing clean water, better health, and improved education for children and their communities.
