The Rwamwanja refugee camp, located in the Kamwenge district of Uganda, is home to nearly 70,000 refugees, primarily from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A significant number of children and young people are out of school. Refugee families with limited means are unable to afford school fees and additional costs such as uniforms and school supplies. Within the camp, 13,404 refugees have access to education, with very high enrollment rates.
Flo & Friends Charity Organization offers a transformative solution: the construction of a school within the refugee camp.
This project primarily aims to address the issue of insufficient school capacity, given the high number of enrollments in the camp.
The project also seeks to improve the quality of educational infrastructure to boost enrollment rates, school retention, and student attendance. In the long term, improving school infrastructure is also linked to better exam results for students.
The project’s goal is to enhance access to education for children living in the Rwamwanja refugee camp, transforming the lives of thousands of children by improving education, security, and the overall well-being of the camp’s environment.
